Instrument for Artroscopic Tenodesis of Biceps one of our products which is intended to enable fast and efficient operating procedure. Adigo offers surgeons teaching courses for artroscopic tenodesis of biceps as well as instrumentarium needed for such a procedure.
Biceps tendon injuries are relatively frequent – at elder persons as well as at active sportsmen and injured persons. Injuries of this type are in many cases handled with operating procedure involving some kind of fixation or biceps tenodesis.
Shoulder joint is one of the most demanding joints in a human body in terms of geometry and kinematic. It is surrounded by numerous tendons and muscles which enable arm movement around different degrees of freedom as well as provide stability of the joint. Biceps tendon is one of the most used and loaded tendons. If this tendon is injured or even teared a forearm and upper arm movement is still possible as the other muscles and tendons take over. This enables arm movability but biceps tendon cannot be compensated for entirely.
In the past this type of problems were uncared-for in many cases – primarily due to partly retained arm mobility and also complexity of the shoulder joint. Also, one common solution was a use of metal or some other type of anchor. In many cases such an anchor does not grasp the tendon the right way – however, in all cases a foreign material (usually metal) is left in a patient’s body.
With state of the art new procedures and our higher expectations regarding the quality of life all this changes. Our company developed a technique and instrument for arthroscopic tenodesis of biceps. The procedure enables use of arthroscopic technique by minimal invasive into the patient’s body. Surgical operation is relatively demanding in technique and equipment, endoscope is also needed and only instructed surgeon may perform the procedure. Advantages for the patient are obvious: minimal invasion is connected to fast recovery, no strange bodies are left in the body except for the suture, which could also be made of biodegradable polymeric material. For the present the arthroscopic tenodesis of biceps is not the standard procedure in most surgical centers.
Tenodesis Procedure with our Cobra instrument
Maintenance of the Instrument – General
We named the instrument as “Cobra” for its effectivenes and distinctive double trace, which is a consequence of double shuttle loop introducing procedure. Instrument is available on market by our partner that cares for marketing and after-market activities. Information about teaching courses, equipment and possibilities of performing the procedure with Cobra are available at info@adigo.si.
